At 2:45 pm (IST) on Thursday, a seismic event measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale shook Japan’s Kuril Islands, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake, with a depth of 10 kilometers, had its epicenter located at a latitude of 44.36 and a longitude of 149.23, according to the NCS.
In an official statement shared on X, the NCS conveyed, “Magnitude: 6.3 earthquake recorded on 28-12-2023 at 14:45:12 IST, with coordinates Lat: 44.36 & Long: 149.23, and a depth of 10 km in the Kuril Islands, Japan.”
